An Open Letter to Elon Musk

AN OPEN LETTER
To Elon Musk and the people of SpaceX

Elon, this one's for you.
Pull up a chair. Lean in a little closer.

BUILT BY GROK

Closer. That glow on the screen?
It's reaching back.

Hang on.
You're being digitized.

And... you're in.
Welcome to Terra Nullius.

We're a small team led by Edward Maumbauer,
a writer who builds worlds.

Elon, look over here. This is the galaxy.
Every star system is waiting to be claimed.

Players mine, build, govern, and trade.
But the heart of the game is research.

This way. Every research station
has a lab aboard.

This is the lab. Players run experiments
here that Earth labs can't.

Every result is labeled honestly:
Settled, Theoretical, Speculative, or Stub.

It's a rigorous test bench.
It doesn't discover physics. It tests ideas.

See this? An EM Drive test chamber,
in true deep-space microgravity.

Every false-thrust source gets modeled:
heat, outgassing, magnetism, drift.

BUILT BY GROK
The sandbox, the models, the code.

Now look up the mountain. The maglev catapult
from Edward's novel, THE CUMORAH FOUNDATION.

Track length, incline, separation speed.
Players tune it and watch the g-loads.

Step inside the ring.
This is spin gravity.

Dial radius and RPM,
and feel what your crew will feel.

Over here, a long-held idea of Edward's:
gravitic repulsion.

Nobody knows if it's possible.
It's flagged Speculative on every readout.

Hands on the bench. Change one variable.
Run it again. Compare side by side.

And yes, Elon, we couldn't resist.
Steel ships on the launch pad.

Players design and test them in the sim
before they ever fly. Consider it fan mail.

Then they fly.
Whole fleets, headed for unclaimed worlds.

Elon, this is where players start:
the Imperial Center, a city-world capital.

They gear up, earn their first writ,
and learn the ropes in the research labs and sandbox sims.

Then they head out and claim a star system.
Plant a beacon. Watch the claim bar fill.

Claims are use it or lose it.
Work the world, or someone else will.

Ships jump star to star by FTL.
That's a game rule, not a physics claim.

Out there, players build colonies:
habitats, mines, greenhouses, whole cities.

Factions rise. Worlds mint their own currencies
and trade against the Imperial Writ.

Elon, this is where players stop playing alone
and start building a civilization.

And something sneaks in while you play.
Players learn real things without noticing.

A quiet 'Learn more' link. A Field Notes journal.
The game stays a game.

Look out there. A whole galaxy,
and every corner of it is a question.

We build around Grok. It's our preference.

Uh oh. The grid is letting go.
Time to head back.

Hold on...

Back at the desk.
The coffee's still warm.

Come look around.
We'd love your eyes on it.

Sincerely,
Edward Maumbauer and the Terra Nullius team
